When does the Wedding Festival take place?
Gates open on Saturday the 1st May at 3.00pm for a 3.30pm headline act - you don’t want to miss this gig!
The festival continues throughout the long-weekend.

Why is it called a Wedding Festival?
We love a good festival, and the fun times they bring. It is really important to us that we spend more than a crazy 5 hours at a reception trying to get quality time with 50 or so people. Being in a beautiful location, and having the time to catch up with out-of-towners, or people from Brisbane who we don't see nearly as much as we'd like, is a priority for us. Also, many of our friends haven't had the chance to meet, so our wedding is the perfect opportunity for friends & family to put faces to names and see just why you're all our friends. You may not be camping, or eating cold greasey food, and will (hopefully!) not be tramping through knee deep mud, but hopefully, our version of a 'Wedding Festival' will give you some great memories!

Where is Springbrook?
Springbrook is a mountain plateau, behind the Gold Coast. You get to it by a winding, narrow road through gorgeous scenery. There are amazing escarpments, waterfalls you can walk under, rainforest walks and a couple of lovely little cafes. We think you will love the area, and we are very excited to bring you to such a gorgeous place.
It’s about 1hr 40mins drive from Brisbane, or around 45mins from the Gold Coast.

What's the line-up at this Wedding Festival?
The headline act on the Saturday are ‘Jeremy & Shannon get hitched’ – don’t miss them – it’ll be their first and last performance, and you want to see them live. They rock. Not long after that performance, ‘Rocking Reception’ supported by ‘Good Food and Frivolity’ will be on. ‘Beer & Wine – oh yeah’ are known to join them on stage which just adds to the performance! The minor stages will probably host such acts as ‘Crazy caterpillar on the dancefloor’, ‘Hilarious speeches’ and if you’re lucky, ‘Sappy and romantic first dance as husband and wife’. Aaaawwww… There will be things to do with your old and new friends on the Sunday with an lunchtime BYO BBQ with good food and more laughs supplied. Monday may involve a trip to a gorgeous Gold Coast beach, for a swim if it’s hot enough, and lunch at a surf club with whoever is still keen.

How long will I stay?
K Rudd has nominated Monday the 3rd May as public holiday in QLD to commemorate our wedding (and workers rights), so please do stay for two nights to really enjoy the Wedding Festival experience. We’ve got some nice things planned for the whole weekend, and we want you to be a part of it!

Where will I stay?
There are a range of accommodation options on the mountain. There are some links in the ‘Accommodation’ section to get you started.
Since it’s a long weekend, a lot of places may require 2 night minimum stays (this is all part of our dastardly plan to have you spend time with us!) but contact them directly to find out more.
There is some accommodation available at the Manor, however, you won't be able to book in here, as this has been reserved for the wedding party, plus some family & out-of-towners.

There are a number of B&B's on the mountain, or you could share a house with some other guests. Let us know if you don’t have a crew to stay with and want us to hook you up – if you really can’t stay for two nights, this might be a good option for the night of the wedding. Or, you can camp at the national park campground!

NB: We really do recommend staying on the mountain for at least one night – the road is narrow, winding and best not tackled after an evening of revelling. And also because we want you there for the long weekend!

See the accommodation section for more info. And please book early – this wedding is definitely happening on the 1st May 2010, rain, hail or shine - and you don’t want to miss out and have to sleep in your car!

How will I get there?
Driving is the only way. But, if you’re stuck, let us know and we’re sure another guest can help you out. In fact, if you know a few people going, why not share a car?

How will I get home from the reception?
If you would like to have a drink or two at the wedding, there will be a bus organised to collect you prior to the ceremony and then drop you back to your accommodation, safe and sound, before you turn into a pumpkin. Let us know ASAP if you think you will use this service so we can provide numbers to the bus company. Please note: the bus will only service the Springbrook area - it will not pick up or drop off to places that are not on the mountain.

What to wear, what to wear?
Think 'garden party' or 'the races' (without the horses). The wedding & reception will be taking place in a gorgeous outdoor location, so get that frock out of the cupboard, or iron the nice shirt & pants and get spiffy for this special occasion! (Everyone loves an excuse to get frocked up don’t they?!)

Should I buy them a present?
Thankyou, but your presence is present enough! No, really, it is. We understand that asking you to have a long weekend away comes with its costs and efforts, and we would so much rather have you spend time with us, than forgo that for a gift.
Please come, spend a relaxing & fun weekend away with everyone, and know that you have contributed to our wedding by just being you!
If you still really do feel that you would like to commemorate our wedding with a gift, there will be a small 'wishing well' of some description at the reception. We have lived together for 6 or 7 years and are soon hopefully buying our own home. We already have a house filled with useful things, but know that when we do own our own home, there will be various housey items that we will want & need - we hope to make our new home a place we love to be, and a place for our friends and family to visit and share with us.
But really, we will be super, super happy to just have you spend time with us at our wedding.

What will the weather be like?
Cross your fingers, toes and eyes it will be sunny! Although, Springbrook is a lush, green rainforest for a reason, so, please be prepared with an umbrella. And, since it is a Wedding Festival there is a possibility it will either be 42degrees in the shade, or pouring with rain and cold – so maybe bring your gumboots too!
Also, Springbrook is generally cooler than Brisbane or the Gold Coast, so bring something warm to wrap up in, as the reception will be partly outdoors.

Um, my fuel gauge is pointing to empty…where can I get fuel?
Ah, did you bring your walking shoes? There is no fuel available on the mountain. Top up as you head through Nerang or Mudgeeraba.

What do I need to bring?
Just your sweet selves.
Plus something to drink at the Sunday BBQ. The Manor has a licensed bar, but the BBQ will be held at a different house on the grounds so you’re able to bring something along for that without breaking any rules. Drinks are reasonably priced at the bar in any case.

What can I do in the way of sightseeing?
There is loads to do in the area if you’re into nature! You could go for a lovely rainforest walk – there is a great one called Twin Falls which allows you to walk right underneath two waterfalls…yes, it’s as gorgeous as it sounds! You can swim at the bottom of them as well if it’s hot enough (or you’re from England).
You could go for a drive to the ‘Best of all lookout’ – a big claim, but it is stunning.
You can check out the small local galleries around the mountain.
There are glow-worms to be found nearby – sorry, but we can’t verify if it’s worth the visit.
The space nerds among you (you know who you are) might like to visit the observatory to gaze at the stars.
If you have a sweet tooth, you may want to visit the fudge shop and taste-test a few flavours.
There are a few cafes on the mountain – Rosellas, Paddymelons, The general store & cafe and the English Gardens – check them out for hot chocolate or cream tea.

If you are staying around for a bit longer in the area, or feel like venturing further afield, you could visit Natural Arch for a gorgeous waterfall and glow worms, Mt Tamborine for some cafés & galleries, the gorgeous beaches of the Gold Coast or, if you’re really feeling energetic, Mount Warning is a great, and not too difficult, ‘climb’.
